एक युनिट में 7 मादा और 3 नर खरगोश होते हैं। इसके फार्मिंग.के लिए शुरुआती स्‍तर 10 युनिट का रखा है। 10 युनिट से फार्मिंग शुरू करने के लिए लगभग 4 से 4.5 लाख रुपए खर्च आता है। इसमें टिन शेड लगभग 1 से 1.5 लाख रुपए, पिंजरे 1 से 1.25 लाख रुपए, चारा और इन युनिट्स पर लगभग 2 लाख रुपए खर्च शामिल है।

नर और मादा खरगोश लगभग 6 महीने के बाद ब्रीडिंग के लिए तैयार होते हैं। एक मादा खरगोश एक बार में 6 से 7 बच्‍चों को जन्म देती है। मादा खरगोश का प्रेग्‍नेंशी पीरियड 30 दिन का होता है और इसके अगले 45 दिनों में बच्‍चा लगभग 2 किलोग्राम का होने के बाद बिकने के लिए तैयार हो जाता है। 10 युनिट खरगोश से 45 दिनों में तैयार हुआ बच्‍चों का बैच लगभग 2 लाख रुपए में बिकता है।

इन्‍हें हम फार्म ब्रिडिंग, मीटऔर ऊन व्‍यवसाय के लिए बेचते हैं। खरगोश सालभर में कम से कम से कम 7 बार प्रेग्‍नेंट होती है। लेकिन, यदि हम मोर्टालिटी, बीमारी आदि सभी को ध्‍यान में रखकर औसतन 5 प्रेग्‍नेंशी पीरियड भी मान लें तो साल भर में 10 लाख रुपए के खरगोश बिक जाते हैं। जबकि, चारे पर खर्च 2 से 3 लाख भी मान लें तो 7 लाख रुपए शुद्ध इनकम होती है।

  • Cage Method: For commercial rabbit farming business, cage method is the best. In this system the rabbits are kept in a cage, which are made with wire or iron plate. Feeding

Breeding

Usually rabbits become mature and suitable for breeding purpose within their 5 to 6 months of age. But don’t use the male rabbits for breeding purpose until they reach their first birthday. Doing this will ensure, quality young rabbits for commercial production. Always try to use healthy rabbits with proper body weight for breeding. Never bred the females, if they are ill. Take special care to the breeding male and pregnant female rabbits, and provide them nutritious feed. The gestation period of rabbits is about 28 to 31 days. And each time a doe can give birth of 2 to 8 kids.
